Job-Killing Renewable Energy Bill Passes in the Senate, Still Hope in the House
Despite your hundreds of phone calls, postcards, and letters, the House committee and Senate committee each passed the resolution (SCR 1 / HCR 5) on Tuesday, January 18. And unfortunately on Monday, January 24, the Senate passed the bill.
As you know, the resolution would remove the "sold to Missouri" provision from Prop C - the Renewable Electricity Standard. If this bill is passed into law, Missouri will lose thousands of clean-energy jobs and millions of dollars in economic development, state taxes, and worker payrolls.
We truly appreciated your phone calls last week in advance of the committee vote. In the next few days the resolutions will head to the floor of the House to be voted upon by the entire General Assembly. Now, we must stop this on the floor of the House and Senate.
